JOB SUMMARY : Responsible for inspecting the installation of electrical systems, electrical safety regulations, and equipment to detect faulty wiring and design. The electrical inspector will ensure compliance with electrical codes, standards, city ordinances and other state regulations. The electrical inspector will visit existing facilities, perform inspections, and make recommendations for improvement. The electrical inspector will be able to do simple calculations like voltage drop, neutral loads, feeder and branch circuit loads. The Electrical Inspector performs inspections throughout UO parks by providing strong Electrical knowledge and abilities around commercial inspections.
Provide electrical inspection to ensure safety for electrical systems and components throughout UO buildings, Venues and construction sites. This electrical inspection to insure compliance with NEC, Universal Standards, UL508 (enclosure wiring), etc. Inspect electrical work for compliance with code requirements for wire insulation type, wire size, correct terminations (ferrules, lugs, etc.), stranded or solid wire, wire color and placement, number of wires, coding of electrical phases, grounding/shielding & bonding, wire numbering, voltages, etc. Perform QC checks on electrical work that UO and third parties complete on property to building, Ride & Show equipment and Ride Vehicles.
Provide proper evaluation of existing preventive maintenance (PM Job Plans) to insure they are completed according to appropriate policies, procedures and safety. The electrical inspector will provide oversight and support the Venues to make changes to the existing Job Plans. The electrical inspector will work with the new Venues in the development of their Job Plans, so they can be performed in a safe manner.
Assist with troubleshooting electrical systems and design. Conduct root cause analyses and mitigate future occurrences. Focus on improvements that make the electrical systems safer and more reliable.
Assist Engineering Management in developing and controlling the department’s budget and other related requests.
Assist Management in the creation and modification of policies / procedures for inspections, establishing a clear path of future policies, providing direction and enforcing policies/procedures.
Provide comprehensive training to Engineers and Technical Services Team Members that covers electrical inspections, codes, power quality problems, types of circuitries, high voltage, electrical system design, testing of electrical parts, electrical hazards, etc.
Coordinate and facilitate intra-department partners and external resources to encourage friendly working relationships for everyone including: Environmental Health & Safety, Facilities, Finance and outside vendors.
SCOPE: Responsible for electrical inspection that provides accurate inspections of all Venue electrical systems to provide increased safety, reliability and operational improvements. Must be an electrical expert to help provide direction, help develop solutions and help implement new electrical technology with a focus on electrical safety for UO.
EDUCATION: High School Degree or GED is Required. An Associate’s Degree (AA) or a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Related Fields is Preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 3 – 5 years demonstrated project experience of commercial electrical inspection and electrical installation/inspection in an amusement park industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Required – State of Florida Journeyman’s Electrical License.
Preferred – Certified Electrical Inspector (CEI) or equivalent will be requested to be obtained within 90 days of employment.
Strong skills with a logical approach to problem solving, calculations, troubleshooting capabilities, and an understanding of electrical code standards.
Knowledge of NFPA, State Building code relating to electrical and best practices and knowledge of the permitting and inspection processes of the AHJ.
Understand Electrical Drawings, Technical Documents and electrical safety systems.
Ability to effectively accomplish the electrical inspection by verifying, developing inspection reports, communicating inspection results, evaluating the effectiveness of corrective action and follow-up inspections.
Must possess the knowledge and ability to effectively conduct different types of inspections in a professional, ethical and objective manner using and interpreting applicable standards/requirements, with an awareness of potential legal and financial ramification.
