Thompson Pump and Manufacturing Co., Inc. FIELD INSTALL TECHNICIAN in Orlando, Florida

POSITION OBJECTIVES:Assist in the sales and support functions and be the “point person” and liaison on major projects that are set-up and installed by Thompson Pump. Lead crews on the set-up and installation of complex by-pass and de-watering projects; assure that specifications are followed; instruct and train the customer and crew on the proper operation and maintenance of each system.

  • Partner with sales team and Thompson Pump’s By-pass Representative to by participate in pre-sale, bid and post-sale activities to secure complex by-pass, de-watering and similar projects that call for Thompson Pump’s line of equipment and functional expertise.

  • Serve as the lead in the set-up and installation phase(s) of key projects and participate and direct the proper set-up of pumps and related equipment and customer job-sites.

  • Operate the equipment and tools necessary to prepare job-sites, to include fusion machines ,lulls, bobcats and related equipment.

  • Train and instruct others on the proper operation and maintenance of installed systems with an emphasis on environmental, health and safety issues related to each project.

  • Assure that equipment is properly working in accordance with specifications and Thompson Pump’s qualitative standards before equipment is delivered and while on rent to our customer’s.

  • Complete field reports and other documentation, to include shipping documents, field reports, etc.

  • Conduct minor service and repairs on Thompson equipment located on customer job-sites.


  • Mechanical background with working knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines is required as is the ability to perform basic engine diagnosis and repair of both gasoline and diesel engines.

  • Familiarity with pumps and operating principles is preferred.

  • One to years of field experience in well-point or by-pass equipment setup is highly preferred.

  • Must have a strong command of the English language.

  • Writes clearly and informatively; presents numerical data effectively and is able to read and interpret written information.

  • High School diploma or GED is required.

  • Trade school graduate preferred.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with a high degree of capability on e-mail, pdf files and word processing and spreadsheet software.

  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with HazMat endorsement is highly preferred.

  • Must be able to maintain DOT requirements for driving Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV),including medical certification.
