NBC Universal MEP Engineer in Orlando, Florida
JOB SUMMARY : Seeking a qualified Engineer to perform support for increased reliability and operational performance of building environment systems across Universal Orlando’s property. These systems will include: heating, cooling, humidity, lighting, and building management controls. The Engineer will be required to evaluate the condition and operational performance of building environment systems including chiller plants and boilers, and also recommend maintenance programs, repair, replacement, and planned improvements.
Perform evaluations of existing and proposed building environment systems with a focus on improving reliability, improving occupant comfort and reducing operation and maintenance expenses.
Perform energy audits and retro-commissioning of existing buildings.
Recommend modifications to lighting, heating and cooling systems, boilers, chiller plants, chilled water distribution systems, and building management system controls.
Perform design modifications and implement solutions to improve safety, reliability, cost effectiveness, and serviceability of building environment systems.
Manage assigned projects from the design phase through installation to include: develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, construction observation, testing, and training.
Develop and conduct Acceptance Test Procedures on building environment system modifications.
Generate maintenance standard operating procedures and prepare training manual updates.
Interface with Facilities supervisors and managers to resolve building operation and design issues. Coordinate engineering activities between Facilities supervisors, managers, technicians and other internal department personnel as necessary.
Monitor and interface with vendors /equipment manufacturers to resolve problems and design issues. Prepare and review equipment specifications and perform technical evaluation of emerging vendor products/services.
Perform engineering calculations for design, analysis, test, and implementation of building environment system improvements. Update building management system code and program system controllers.
Communicate project status updates to leaders of all affected teams. Perform updates to project status via Maximo on a regular basis.
EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on building environment systems from an accredited college or university is required.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: A Professional Engineer license is preferred .
A minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrated project engineering experience pertaining to the design, implementation and optimization of building environment systems.
A minimum of 1 year of project management experience.
A minimum of 2 years of field / hands-on experience with building energy audits, commissioning, or retro-commissioning required.
A minimum of 3-5 years of field / hands on experience with building management control system optimization and programming required
Analytical skills to perform engineering calculations for design, analysis, test and implementation of building environment systems.
Proven ability to work with team members of diverse experience and educational backgrounds.
Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering plans and specifications.
Experience with generating drawings, specifications, acceptance test procedures and maintenance/training documents.
Proficient in developing and tracking project budgets and schedules.
Knowledgeable in NEC, ASHRAE, ANSI, ASME and ASTM standards.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills
